After all the drama with Hanna, like seans car wreck and her shoplifting, her dad makes a visit to Rosewood to see how Hanna is doing and to keep her in line. Hanna thinks that her dad is coming to see her because he wants to not because of all the trouble she has been getting into. She finally discovers that her dad isn't really there to see her just to see her when his new wife and step-daughter comes along too. This makes Hanna upset and even less confident than she is now.
In the next chapter Emily is still hanging around with Maya and goes to her house one day. Emily starts to feel uncomfortable so claims she is "late" for somthing when really she is not.
From watching the show i remember the whole scene from when Hanna's dad came into town. I think they did a good job with tying in things from the book. However, all the things happening with Maya and Emily are a little different in the show. I guess it has the same general idea of whats going on, but in the book they go into a little bit more detail of the whole situation. Overall, i think the show does a pretty good job of keeping up with what goes on in the books.
